Michael took on the role of Chief Winemaker at Chapel Hill in 2004 and his dedication to Chapel Hill and the wines they produce has been recognised with his recent elevation to Chief Winemaker & CEO. Michael was raised on a vineyard in McLaren Vale and is subsequently focused on discovering and nurturing the many splendours of the region. Michael believes that every vintage offers a unique opportunity to learn more about yourself, your team, the vineyards and the region. ‘With knowledge there is less to fear, leading to an increased respect of your instincts and grapes’. Embracing all the region has to offer has allowed Michael to be recognised with three Bushing King awards and the title of IW&SC 2007 International Winemaker of the Year. Michael strives to create wines that express individual vineyard sites, whilst harnessing the passion, energy and commitment of all involved, from the vineyards through to the cellar.
